Go to editdocsai.com/tools/unlock-pdf. Upload your password-protected PDF. Enter the current password when prompted — this is the password you use to open the file. Click Unlock. Download the unrestricted PDF. The output has no password, no permissions lock, and no restrictions on printing, copying, or editing. Free, no account required. Your password is used only for the single decryption operation and is never stored.
Open password (user password): prevents the file from opening at all. Anyone trying to open the PDF must enter this password. Owner password (permissions password): lets you open the PDF normally but restricts what you can do — printing might be disabled, or copying text, or editing. Some PDFs have both. Unlock PDF removes whichever password you provide. If your PDF opens fine but you cannot print or copy text, it has an owner/permissions password — upload it and enter the owner password to remove restrictions.
No legitimate tool can remove a PDF password without knowing the current password — that would be breaking encryption. Our unlock tool requires the existing password because it decrypts the file legally, as any authorized user would. Tools that claim to "crack" or "bypass" PDF passwords without the key are either ineffective on modern AES-256 encrypted PDFs or illegal to use on files you do not own. If you have lost the password to your own PDF, contact the original document author or check your password manager.
